Career: Learn To Do One Thing Really Well
There's a reason brain surgeons make more than baristas. One has skills that required years of costly, gruelling study and dedication, while the other has skills that most adults can learn quickly if not perfectly. You’ll feel pretty special knowing that you’re an expert in something.
Getting Started: A great way to begin is to look around your field -- or the field you hope to work in -- to see what uncommon skills are valued. Then start reading up on it. If you want to advance yourself further, look up some related classes online.
Fitness: Reduce Your Waist Size By Two Inches
Far too many men set their goals based on their body weight. Body weight doesn’t tell the whole story, though. Instead, try to reduce your waist size by two inches. Your waist circumference and waist-to-hip ratio are two of the most important health stats that you need to be aware of, as they're directly linked to the development of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.
Get Started: It all starts with what you put into your body. Changing your eating habits will help you shed the pounds and the inches around your waist.
Travel: Travel Like The Locals
Navigating the bus and train schedules in a foreign country where you don't speak the language is a test of any traveler’s mettle. Sometimes the next bus will be there and sometimes it won’t. The few words of the last language you learned are often useless. As much of a test of character and patience as a cultural experience, this part of travel -- the drudgery and the difficulty -- often reveals more about the people traveling than the places they are visiting.
Get Started: There are tons of resources for you to help you find your way. These days, Wikis, apps -- such as Google Maps -- and even social networks can be of help and can be accessed from your phone, so if you ever find yourself wondering what time the next bus will come, just take out your phone and look it up.
Look: Find Three Fashion Websites You Like And Visit Them Once A Week
Being a regular visitor on three different fashion websites will let you cover a lot of territory, meaning you’ll have a good grasp on the major trends while also benefiting from alternative perspectives. By having a variety of experts letting you know what’s in and what’s not, eventually you’ll be able to find your own style and apply it to your daily life.
Get Started: Research by using Google. Check out which sites are the most visited and start with those. Also read up on who are the most trusted writers in the industry and look out for sites that they contribute to regularly and bookmark them.
Growth: Volunteer For Something Long-Term
In high school, volunteering (or community service) was that thing we had to do as a requirement for graduation. These days, we’re all too busy to take a couple hours out of our week to help someone else out, but as you (should) know by now, it feels really good to help others.
Get Started: Find something that you feel strongly about -- whether it has to do with animal rescue or helping to rebuild a home -- and go out there and help. It’ll resonate more with you and motivate you to keep going back.
Fitness: Run Your First Marathon
If you’ve always wanted to run a marathon -- whether it’s a half or full one -- but have been apprehensive about it, now is the perfect time to show yourself that you can do it. Having a clear goal for your training each day will give your workouts new meaning and ensure you commit for the long haul.
Get Started: If you live in a major city, it shouldn’t be too hard to find a marathon to participate in.
Relationships: Learn What She's Into & Do It
You may not be the best dancer on the floor and you may detest doing it, but if she likes it, you should at least try. She’s probably sat with you and watched a football game she had no interest in, so now's the time to do it for her.
Get Started: Communicate. Ask her what she likes to do. It may not be what you’re into, but if you’re into her, it’s the least you can do. Then do some research on the web and surprise her with a dance lesson or whatever it is she likes to do.
Career: Overdeliver On Your Promises
If you want to be known as reliable, you need to be rock-solid about following through on the things you said you would follow through on. If you forget things and others (especially your boss) have to remind you constantly about work they need from you, it sends a clear message that you don't have your act together.
Get Started: Have a system for tracking everything you need to do -- it can be pen-and-paper or computer-based, but capture all your work in a system you trust. Promised you'd hand in the project on Wednesday? Hand it in on Tuesday if it's ready.
Fitness: Learn A New Sport
Learning a new sport is a great way to get motivated to keep up with your workouts and challenge your body. Try something different than all the other “mainstream” activities, like rock climbing. It will not only test your muscular strength and endurance, but your coordination and agility as well.
Get Started: Start with indoor climbing, just to be on the safe side. Climbing walls can be found in gyms all over the country these days, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find a place.
Look: Get Rid Of All Your Unwanted Hair
Nose hair, ear hair and neck hair that's poking out anywhere else isn't sexy, nor is having a carpet growing on your back or chest. Use clippers to get your chest right and waxing or having a good friend shave you is the only way to get rid of your back hair. Use tweezers and trimmers for the small spaces like the nose and hair.
Get Started: Once a week, check your face for new hairs that might have popped up. If you have unruly eyebrows or a unibrow, consider getting your brows professionally waxed or shaped -- it doesn't cost much and this way you won't end up with any grooming accidents.
Relationships: Make Her Breakfast In Bed
A classic gesture, breakfast in bed is the proverbial "oldie but goodie." Get up early on a Saturday or Sunday morning and prepare breakfast just the way she likes it, with toast, fresh fruit, cinnamon buns, whatever. Then surprise her by serving it to her in bed.
Get Started: If you don’t feel like cooking up the conventional eggs and bacon breakfast, go online and look up some recipes. Most of the suggestions will be for Valentine’s Day, but part of making her breakfast in bed is treating a normal day as if it’s a special occasion.
Growth: Get On A Track
Think you’re the greatest thing to get behind the wheel since Senna? Well prove it and get out on a track. Participating in one of these amateur races will give you the rush of being a pro, and actually winning one should make you feel a little more like the legendary Brazilian.
Get Started: Amateur track days, autocross events and high-performance driving events can be found in any part of the country on any given weekend. These events give guys the opportunity to drive at speed in a safe, controlled environment with a low entry fee.
Career: Make Daily Lists/Updates Of Short-Term And Long-Term Goals
In 1932, an Austrian psychiatrist named W. Beran Wolfe summed up his life philosophy by saying, “If you observe a really happy man, you will find him building a boat, writing a symphony, educating his son, growing double dahlias in his garden or looking for dinosaur eggs in the Gobi Desert.” Turns out, Wolfe was right. This idea of keeping busy, setting goals and committing to them does improve happiness. Find a happy man, and you will find a project.
Get Started: You have no excuse for not doing this one. Your mobile device or tablet can do it for you and you can set up notifications to remind you about those goals that you’re neglected. Apple has a calendar app, as well as one for notifications.
Growth: Say "No" Once A Week
A problem many of us have is saying no -- turning down opportunities like going out for happy hour or killing time with a friend. Often, when we do these things, they aren’t as satisfying as we’d like them to be and we realize later that they devour our personal time.
Get Started: When saying no, plan what you’ll do with that personal time instead of wasting it away by feeling guilty. Making sure that you have something else planned will make saying no easier and get you doing something productive instead.
Travel: Take a Solo Vacation
Nothing -- and I really mean nothing -- will build your confidence more than traveling by yourself. When you’ve been pickpocketed on an overnight train to Prague and you don’t have two dimes to rub together, there’s no relying on a friend to bail you out. You’ve got to figure it out yourself and, after you survive it, the character you’ve built will stick with you forever.
Get Started: You don’t want to get yourself into a sticky situation on purpose. Do a little research before you head out on your own to make sure that where you’re going isn’t full of pirates or murderers or some act of God that you won’t be able to avoid. Check the current travel warnings before finalizing your trip.
Fitness: Perform 50 Pushups
If you’re looking for a challenge outside of the gym, consider working toward doing 50 pushups without stopping. This is a fantastic upper-body exercise and core developer, and will boost your muscular endurance as well as your confidence.
Get Started: Start with 10 a day and work your way up to 20. Gradually do 10 more a day until you finally reach your goal of 50.
Growth: Learn How To Change A Tire
This is one of those skills that every driver -- not just “car guys” -- need to know. If you’re ever on a date and the tire blows out, you don’t want to be stranded. Last thing you want is to try and figure it out while stuck on the freeway, in the rain -- with her standing on the side of the road, questioning your manhood.
Get Started: Take some time to learn how to access the spare tire, learn where the emergency jack is and also where your car’s jacking points are. Once you master those basics (hint: they’re in the owner’s manual), practice changing your tire at home -- where you're safe and can take your time.
Relationships: Make A List Of What You Want In A Woman
You say you want a woman who’s sweet, loyal, funny, down-to-earth and who can rock a pair of jeans as easily as a pair of heels. But then you end up with the first chick with a C-cup and bipolar disorder. That type might be fine for one night or a few months, but if you’re looking for a quality woman, you have to upgrade your standards.
Get Started: Decide what you’re looking for and then stick to it. Once you start attracting high-caliber women, you’ll start feeling better about yourself too.
Career: Surround Yourself With Successful Models
If you want to be successful, surround yourself with successful models. Their influence and words will rub off on you and inspire you to be as successful as them.
Get Started: It could be very difficult to hang out with some of your heroes, especially if some of them have been dead for centuries. One of the miracles of technology is that we can buy an audio or video recording, put on headphones and hear (or watch) the teachings of experts around the world, both living and dead.
Fitness: Never Spend Weekends Indoors
Weekends are meant for activity. Use your days off to go on a short trip away from the city. Hike, kayak or go for an off-road bike ride -- anything to get outside. You’ll kill stress, burn calories and build muscle strength in the process.
Get Started: Plan for a two-hour outdoor adventure and then come home and prepare a nutritious home-cooked meal. You’ll feel great knowing you did something positive for your health.
Relationships: Give Her A Massage
She comes home from a horrendous day at work; she's exhausted and even a little bad-tempered. So what do you do? Offer to give her a massage. Using aromatherapy oils, focus on her neck and back, the areas that tend to tense up under stress and cause aches and pains. You can create a mood by dimming the lights and lighting candles. It creates a more relaxing and romantic environment.
Get Started: You’re going to have to test the waters here and see what she does and doesn’t like

A stylish man is a prepared man. Planning ahead is vital to ensuring all the elements of your outfit come together as a cohesive whole, no matter what the occasion. Throwing on whatever is lying around when you wake up can not only look sloppy, but trying to find exactly what you’re looking for in the morning hours can be a stressful exercise.
Get Started: Remember to look up what the weather is going to be like throughout the day. Prepare for rain or snow and for the temperature and then choose your outfit appropriately
Look: Buy Real Furniture
Nothing screams “immature” more than hand-me-down '70s gear from your parents. Get rid of the milk crate shelving and shoddy bed frame and upgrade to real furniture. It doesn’t have to be expensive; it just has to look stylish and grown-up.
